A wargame room make over inspired by Al Cal.
« on: February 27, 2013, 09:35:08 PM »
Evening

I am very lucky in that have a gaming room - courtesy of mr lovely wife but despite having lived in our house for some time it did not feel as if it were being used to it's full potential as was kindly pointed out by my very good war gaming mate Mark.

Plans for the redesign are still in the plans of being drafted up but am planning to have a 10 x 4 foot table with a railway board for my son built underneath it all on kitchen units. With kitchen cupboards and glass cabinets made for the wall, inspired by Al.

The plan for the table is to build the railway board on a 8 x 4 foot table ten to put a 6" batten around it sho that a 10 x 4 foot war gaming board can go on to the top with my terrain boards on top ready for a game.

My DIY skills are fairly limited so will probably be using outside assistance which means will be subject to a war gaming budget so will be a long term plan.

Below are some photos of how the room is currently and will post photos as go along.

Cheers

Phil

As you come into the room( the sofa bed will have to stay at up the moment but plan to be able to work round it).

Tunis is the alcove where plan to build the units and then the cabinets.

My current painting area which will be getting smaller but hopefully cap'n make better use of it and it won't be so messy!

The sofa bed that plan to have the war gaming board go over the top of so it can be unattended to the wall. current thinking is also to put the kitchen units the table is built on to put it on casters so table can be placed against the wall and the messily pulled out for games.

Feel fre to ask questions or provide suggestions as still in the design stages.

Cheers

Phil
