Spray undercoats that are 5 years old
« on: April 03, 2008, 09:30:59 AM »
Hey Chaps

i was going through my things the other day after moving house yet again and found about 6 cans of black spray undercoat that i bought about 5 years ago....  :o

So my question is this, does this stuff have a use buy date?

I can't find any dates on the can and last time i used one it was fine.

I cant see a problem if they were unused unless they have some rusting or other contamination on them . I've used some that were a few years old with no problems .
Test them on a old model.

I would't even risk an old model. Just spray a dot on something (I have a box I use for spraying, there's always some dot in another colour where I can test spray) and wait five minutes...

I don't see any reason for the paint going bad either. When I was a young boy I used lots of my fathers spraycans which where about 10 years or older...
Far less active than I used to...

For those who are interested the spray can i tried still works fine, so don't go throwing away any old undercoat you find.
