LotR Dux Brit
« on: February 06, 2013, 02:19:36 PM »
Using Dux Britanniarum to play a LotR campaign, gondor vs orcs/goblins.

I'm fielding the gondor army, trying to paint as many as i can but will be borrowing from my friends collection to bulk out the force.

bought some second hand gondor metals and must say I'm really disappointed with the casting quality of the minis.  Anyway, here are pics of the minis I painted for the campaign so far (pics link to bigger ones)

Closer looks at the heroes

Finally, I painted a RBG dwarf.  The plan was to use my friend's dwarven army as allies to fill any gaps I ended up with in my line-up.  He had a few heroes but I thought I should at least paint one, so I painted this

Finally, a pic of our first game taken by my friend

Ah, looks great!  We've been planning to use Dux Brit with LotR forces for a while now, and not quite got round to it yet  :(  How did you find it played - both as a Dark Ages and a LotR game?

The wolf cloak on the dwarf looks great.

Excellent!! I am doing the same but with Elves and Orcs... Just have to paint both the forces before we get any games in  :(

Am currently working out how to make the troll work (you have to have a troll in an evil army). I think he's gonna count as 4 elite models and gain an extra +1 on his 'to wound' rolls...

Anyway, great to see you guys playing it and having fun! Do keep us posted with further developments.

thanks!

re: the game, I liked how the campagin system works so was keen to try it out.  the tactical game I think we got some of the rules wrong but seems to be rather fun.

for the troll we just used it as a champion

I was quite annoyed by my metals as well. Lots of mould lines going directly thorugh eyes and the like... hard to do much about though.

my aragon lost all details along one of his arms.  It was just smooth, cloth, chainmail, everything.  Too lazy to sculpt back the detail so painted everything black and hope it does not show too much.

The farimir had an extra chunk of metal on his helmet and face, somewhere around the lower left of the jaw.  Like a piece of the mould got ripped off an earlier casting and they continued to use it.  I had to carve that part out of the metal.

really poor.
