cheap Chinese building (pics).
« on: March 08, 2013, 02:24:26 PM »
I could have scratchbuilt this in card, but at a price of 3.5 Euro (in wood) it wasn't worth bothering, since I plan a complete town...  This "wooden puzzle" only needed a layer of sand & glue on the outside and the roof texture was taken from the net and printed to size.  I know that I can get plastic sheet of the stuff, but the challenge is to do this (whole town...) on a budget.  The complete town may set me back about 50 Euro.  lol

The pictures do not really do justice to the roof: "in the flesh" one can hardly see that the texture is only 2D (I really must get some better source of lighting...).
.

The roof is removable "as is" and the door opens en closes.

I bought the models from this vendor: http://www.decorsminiatures.fr/category.php?id_category=77

They offer a whole range of these buildings.

Very nice and the roof does look 3D on the top picture. I'll be impressed if you stick to your budget though, I never can!

That's certainly come out well, and looks to be pretty well scaled for 28mm.

I may have to pick up a few for some Bob or pulp gaming.

Thanks guys!  About "sticking to the budget"... this is yet another try of me to do so, but, I must be honest: up to now I never succeeded even once...  lol

Yeah, the great thing about chinese buildings is that they can cover just so many periods.

Except for the windows (which are a little large) I think these buildings look quite good!

Changing that would only be a minor job...

Brilliant link. I want to do back of beyond now!

I am doing Burma 1942 at the moment, and although those houses look a too Chinese for Burma, they might be OK for Rangoon, as there were some more impressive foreign style houses there.

Especially given how cheep they are.  ;)
