Thanks - I'm treating the league as an exccuse to get myself painting and  to test a few new ideas (well, for me anyway) as my painting isn't Proflike.
(Proflike: adjective, typical high standard of Lead Adventure Forum painters - synonyms: Hammershlike, Grimmlike and several dozen others).

The bases are something I'd been meaning to try for ages - a cheap and simple effect. which uses the wood chips in which some indoor plants get  planted. You can get sacks of these quite reasonably priced (considering one sack is good for a couple of thousand models); I stole mine from the Faculty board room plant during one of those looooong multiple-hour meetings.... paint (if you wish), add some drybrush and a few specks of flock, and it's done. PVA glue adheres ecellently, and the lizards are glued using a superglue-type adhesive.

You're correct, mainly Metal Magic. The fat one in the middle is a Copplestone one for the Grenadier medieval range, and the small hermit on the right is an eighties Citadel miniatures (AD&D range?).

The Metal Magic miniatures are gems. They have so much character to them, they are still my favorite fantasy range after all these years. Sadly, the moulds are getting old and the castings I got from Discount Hobby were starting to show the strain with mushy detail.

I will probably subject you to more of these at some point in this contest. Possibly twice.

Nice bases. Simple, effective and cost efficeint. Both entries look pretty good. It's a toss up that comes down to personal taste...
