You flatter me sir  :D The SSS figures were the main impetus for this project for me as well (I'd toyed with the idea for some time, but having a range almost specifically for what I wanted was just too good to miss!)

Ok, I've added brief notes/descriptions to the pictures - I've only done the people, as the dogs/wolves shouldn't be too hard to find (and are all stock). I have got some WiP pictures for some of the conversions which might give a better idea of what I mean if/as/when you want to try any of them  :D

I'm looking forwrd to seeing what you produce when you do start  ;)

Having done so much for the 'early days' (years 0-5) I've started to expand my initial theme slightly to include a period after the ash clouds have cleared from the sky and the world has warmed back up a bit. (+10 years, if you will). Factions have had a chance to develop into unique entities as opposed to being groups of like minded survivors struggling through. Lots of inspiration will be taken from the old Babylon's Burning setting, albeit applied to the UK. The aesthetics of scenery will still be very similar to the stuff so far, but there will be some more heavily rusted bits creeping in, along with a few green shrubs and young trees. There will probably also be some shanties etc as people start making their own homes rather than relying on ruins.
Anyway, enough waffle....

Assorted 1/55th cars (Siku), dirtied up, to act as 'early days' street clutter. I'm hoping to add more (I'd like to have a fully clogged up road stretching across the board.)

Assorted dead trees and other scatter

Some bunker-dwelling Government types... (Stock Tor games)

More assorted survivors

Stock SSS figures

Stock SSS figures

Converted Tiger (Modified shotgun, backpakc), converted Killer B (Backpack, cricketbat, de-flaring the trousers), converted Brittania (sleeves & shoes)

Converted Offensive (bag), TAG (Coat, bag), Converted Sgt Mjr Minis (Hockey stick, bag)

Stock LAM

And a couple of mutant cannibals/etc for a bit of a change and to breathe some new life into figures which don’t get used anymore

Stock GW, Stock BCB, Converted Mantic...

Thanks guys :)

There'll be more batreps in due time Steve. As for Siku cars, becasue they are all* scaled to 1:55th, they are a bit more expensive than some. Your best bet is to pick up some sort of bulk lot.

*Although as far as I'm aware all their cars are, lots of other bits actually aren't - there is a range of 1/32nd farm stuff, and I have a siku truck which is ~1/87th scale. I'm not sure if the truck is from a different range (rather like Oxford diecast do things in 3 scales) or if some of the really big stuff is underscaled. Certainly I've got a uni-mog ambulance and a Bauwagen that are both fairly hefty, and still 1/55th so I'd probably go with the seperate range theory. I think some of the 1/55th stuff is called 'super size'...

I prowled eBay last night and found a guy who specialises in them. We exchanged messages and it seems thst a lot of the Siku cars are made to box size not to scale.  He lists the scale for some as he has looked at model length vs vehicle length but many he's only got as far as listing model length.  So, last night I spent a while checking model length against actual and - assuming his lengths are right - I found 4 in the 1/55 to 1/57 range.  On their way to me are:

Mini Cooper
Vw passat
Vw golf
Toyota land cruiser

The first two are emergency service vehicles but I'll be repainting the lot anyway

When they arrive I shall grab ruler and calculator to confirm ... ;) :)

Interesting.... I always got the impression that they were 'accurate'...  lol Regardless, to my eyes they look better than 1/64ths or 1/48ths :)

I look forward to your size comparisons!

Agree with you that 1/56 (+/-1) works best - I know others disagree so I don't want to restart the scale debate!  :D

To be fair, some of the vehicles are exactly scaled and have it marked on the box (or so I'm told) but some of the more useful ones for us just seem to be the 'right size'.

PS The ebay seller is 3pangolins

A bit of a mixed bag to show tonight...

The start of my +10 warlord's army. The 'uniform' elements are the shirts (he has a warehouse full of 'security guard' shirts he's issuing to the troops) and the home made webbing. The peaked caps are also produced by the warlord's people, so a few more of them will be turning up. Armament wise, the warlord has raided one of those cold war 'emergancy stockpiles' and has lots of WW2 kit to hand...

Odds and sods - a pack mule (more to come, and will eventually go with my +10 nomads) a generic survivor who wouldn't lok too out of the way with Winterapoc or +10; and the test piece for my +10 celtic style tribals (as an aside, these guys are definitely not 'authentic' celts. They take insperational imagery from all sorts of places - kids books, vague memories of braveheart, conan, etc... And then try to copy the 'look' with what's to hand - such as the chain arm rings, tartan Pyjama trousers, etc)

WinterApoc survivors oof varying flavours

More Deviations...

Sea-wolves

There has been progress! I've managed to get some of my post-apoc mojo back, and been able to get a few more figures finished before the deadline :)

Very nice - the blues have come up well (balancing the dirtiness nicely).
