Transport
« on: February 18, 2013, 08:33:25 PM »
A,int it strange there I was browsing this forum, idily sipping at an 18 year old Irish, Jamison if you,re buying and go easy on the water thankee, looking at some posts for the V.B.C.W. and thinking " Interesting topic but not my period" . Later that week I found myself standing on the pavement outside my local model shop with a  bag of corgi trucks thinking " but it,s not even my period " ----- sobs quietly to himself and resolves not to buy any figures to go with them. I,m confident that none of you have ever found yourself in this position -  have you ?

There is something pleasing to me about the way you painted your vehicles; some obscure connection with the aesthetic style of the Disney movie '101 Dalmations'.

Very nicely done.

bit of nostalgia going on?  nah, You're not old enough for it  ;)

I am especially extremely fond of the two delivery vans - hopefully it will get me kicked in the ass to paint the lot I have prepared ages ago

Its how it starts.  Believe me.  It starts with some odd bits then BANG! you have units, Vehicles, aircraft, trains, traction engines, boats   figures you never thought you would ever buy!  You end up chasing odds and ends to convert figures such as Boys anti tank rifles and Lewis guns.  You look at figures in a totally different way.

Its great enjoyment,  as said welcome to the madness.

Please avoid going to this website as it will only feed the habit!!   ;D

Gentlemen I thank you all for your warm welcome , Pocoloco I hav,nt thought far enough ahead to choose any sides . Basicly I,m flying by the seat of my pants here and am wondering if I can make use of some of these figures which I already have. I envisage scenes reminisant of the Piorot television series set in the 1920,s and 30,s - I find my interest stirred by the vehicles and lorries used at the time. I imagine the Militas and Army of the Interwar years would have been oddly eqquipped and been using tactics and rifles from an earlier time. Is there scope for the War spilling over into Ireland ? as I say I,m a novice here. A couple of pics of what I imagine might pass for a supply vehicle , the paint is still drying.

A scene thrown together - some troops coming under fire while the corn is being harvested. The Officer is heard exclaiming " Damn shabby trick - the harvest is,nt even gathered in - c,ant a man have a bit toast with his breakfast ? " draws his trusty webley and lets fly at the woods.

That's another great factor with VBCW.  You can take it where you want to.  I do believe that there is a group doing the Northern area.  Suggest the source book then just go off and research your chosen area.
