thats great whats the top made of? (in fact whats the bottom made of in specific too?)

The top part is, if I recall correctly, a container for some fast-food noodle, have had it for some years. The dark part is a cap from a juice bottle (very suitable for statue mount as well) and the lower part is plumbing part, I guess every DIY stores have those in many shape and forms. I have some others that might see the daylight at some point. Still need to add rivets though, that's the nasty part :D

@Sangennaru: Indeed! :D You have a sharp eye. Still practising, getting there hopefully soonish :)

Those tank traps are the right size to stop those filthy nort black mares in their tracks. The some souther lazooks to finish em off.

That's what I'm counting for as well Scurv. If everything fails there's still high hope for certain Genetic Infatryman to appear and save the day.

Yesterday had only mere minutes of hobbytime due to sudden and obligatory, yet very pleasant call to visit relatives. Anyways managed to hack bit off from these four. Still need to scrape the surfaces more here and there to get that proper worn look on them.

Hopefully get to paint all six of them later this evening. Before that a visit to buy the mdf board will take place, happy me... this project will not stall... yet :D

I have two similar molds to get the basic shape. After that it's just hacking away, for these I used GW pin vice drill, both the drill part and the handle :D Artestone is tough enough material to withstand "brutal" attacks and it seems to chip rather nicely. I think I need to drill holes on top of them and attach couple of tow/lift links (made from wire or paperclip) to each one to them, how does that sound?

I had already bookmarked your tutorial on the mdf road, it's just perfect for my plans. I hope I can do justice to your fine example.

Sorry for the double post. Well, didn't manage to obtain mdf yesterday  :? They had only 6mm thick mdf so I placed an order fro 4mm thick board (3.05m x 1.40m IIRC). Will get it next Thursday. Managed to splash some paint on the tank traps. I think I will make terrain with some kind of wintery feel to it, dunno if I manage to convey frosty weather painting wise, tips more than welcome regarding that. I will not put huge amounts of snow over the board, here and there will be enough hopefully to convey the right atmosphere in the end.

Here's few pics of the traps in their current state, inspected by commander Could-not-care-less :)

Oh, I thought about painting on sides of the traps B and 4 for Bose-4, maybe in faded red, how does that sound? I think normally tank traps don't have any markings but some colour wouldn't be bad, would it?

Sweet weathering and painting! Where'd you buy the artestone? Looks like very useful generic building material.

Thank you gents.

I bought the Artestone from a hobby-craft store, I think it is made by a German company. Can check the details if there is need for that?

What exactly is it? I'm also interested...is it soft, or semi-hard...chalk-like?  Or a slightly softer stone material...?

Since one pic is worth thousand words etc etc here goes ;)

Hope these help a bit. Knowing Finland, I bet this is far more cheaper elsewhere, I paid 39 € for 5 kg.

I love those! :o
About adding some colour, I think it wouldn't be bad, though these pieces are great just as they are. Faded red? What about faded yellow? Quite modest industrial colour, a little more showy than white, but not too garish.
However, if you are going on a snowy landscape, maybe red is not a bad option to give an eye-focusing point.

Thanks Suber. And thanks for the suggestion for yellow, come to think of it does go better with grey.

Not much new to show, tried out yellow on one of the tank traps. First pic with no flash and second with flash.

The yellow (Lemon yellow from Vallejo) might need couple of coats, or then I just leave it like that so it is really faded, barely visible in daylight.
