Anatoli's F&IW stuff (25/3/2013)
« on: February 23, 2013, 11:05:30 AM »
With the popularity of Muskets & Tomahawks rising in my gaming group I had a reason to order a few blisters from Perry and Warlord Games to round off my existing collection. I figured I would post all the new stuff and review's connected to this expansion project in one thread.

Starting out with this excellent blister from Perry Miniatures (product code AW73) which was something that I instantly looked at after my first game of Muskets & Tomahawks with Thomas. Since Musket & Tomahawks include a high probability of rolling for a scenario or side plot that include civilians I thought it may be a good idea to get some.

The blister offers 8 civilians, a family of 4 and 4 servants/slaves, all of which are full of character and detail.

Check my blog for closeups of the contents.

Nice- but I think for M+T figures are supposed to be based on square bases as frontage is important (although perhaps not as important for unarmed civvies as I guess they could be objectives)

How well will these lovely figures scale with Redoubt, as I already have some of those?

I look forward to seeing these models painted- they look lovely
Theres more 28mm Superhero Madness at my blog, http://fourcoloursupers.blogspot.com/
And for Ultra-modern Wargaming check out Hotel Zugando at http://ultramoderngaming.blogspot.co.uk/

Yes for convenience square bases are optimal for M&T, but I just find square bases really ugly  :-X
Determining the 180degree line of sight has not been hard so far and the rest of the guys at my club are going for round beveled bases as well.

Not really sure how they scale with Redoubt as I have only experience with Perry, Conquest/Warlord and Front Rank Figures. Conquest Miniatures/Warlord Games are the smallest/slimmest but the difference between Perry and Conquest isn't that much of a problem.

I have some of the Perry natives and they are smaller than Redoubt but lets face it humans arent all the same size...for Skirmish games I think you will be fine..

Nice figures... :)

There will be just another post of review material before I start posting the things I'm painting at the moment (contents of the Last of the Mohicans blister from Conquest Miniatures  ;D  ).
I also managed to put together a tutorial for native American flesh which will be posted next week.

Another review before I start to show the painted stuff.

The Last of the Mohicans blister from (Conquest Miniatures)/Warlord Games contains Hawkeye, Uncas, Chingachgook, Magua as well as Cora and Alice Munro. The four males are all amazingly well sculpted and really look like the actors in the Last of the Mohicans movie featuring Daniel Day Lewis in the leading role. The two females are not up to the same standard, they look clueless and confused (granted they walk about with their mouths open in the movie as well...) but they are also quite small sculpts. When comparing them to the males or to Perry Miniatures models they look like teenage girls. They make nice civilian additions to my F&IW collection nonetheless.

Check the blog for more pictures and a few size comparisons with Perry Miniatures.

Good stuff, while I'm not doing FIW....I sure can't wait to get some Conquest minis for my Plains War stuff.  Truly one of the best sculpting shops out there.  Love their stuff from what I've seen.

Thanks, I figure the three main heroes could be used as "irregular/colonial militia" officers, Magua as a Sachem and Cora and Alice as civilians/love interest side-plot miniatures  :)
