Sailors/Aeronef Crew
« on: February 23, 2013, 05:06:46 PM »
So, I am currently using Pulp Figures Air Pirates as my Aeronef crew.  I am planning on adding the excellent Sailors from Hinterlands to my crews, but I am wondering what are good sailors to go with those in scale and style that are men?

I want to use them as Norwegians instead of Prussians in this case (Free Norway has a strong Suffragette contingent that is having considerably more success, because, well, I want them to, and it gives me an excuse to use excellent female models), and I want to mix them freely, but I don't know who makes male sailors that match up to thsi style, and my Google Fu is overmatched here...

Hinterland (so sexy) example here:

And my Air Pirates here:

Suggestions anyone?  The hats are what is screwing me up, I think...I can't seem to find male figures with that style of hat so that they look...ahem...uniform.

You could use empress sailors, zulu and maori range
same sculptor I think
and since it's VSF....

impressing collection btw
Though I don't understand why pirates have to be uniform....

the hats though...
You will find on the Brigade Games WWI range, Germans in East Africa of course
But I presume the proportions are a bit different

Redoubt make Russian sailors in their Boxer Rebellion range, but the problem that I see with these is that they don't have the striped collar found on German sailors (including those from Hinterland).

However, but Redoubt's Boxer Rebellion Austro-Hungarian sailors certainly fit in uniform-wise with Hinterland (I don't know how they scale in with Hinterland's ladies):

Redoubt also nice Skoda and Maxim machine guns for these sailors in the 'Extras' section for the range:

Well, the look is certainly there - my worry would be that they would be small, and then the women look all 1970's East German Olympic team instead of Norwegian. ;)

Anyone have both for a scale comp?  I hate to order figures from England when I don't know the quality.

The Redoubt Boxer Rebellion range scale in well with Brigade Games minis.

If you want something taller try Copplestone. In their Back of Beyond range there are Russian sailors with similar caps and shirts with collars. The range includes sailors with rifles, command and a Maxim gun (but you would have to change the mount for this obviously Russian version):
