Legio IV earns it's colors
« on: March 07, 2013, 09:15:37 PM »
This is an idea I have had for awhile.  After taking a look at http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=51058.0 thanks gentlemen for that. =)
I finally got inspired to get it started.
Here is my first test model.  Shields are going to be blank, with the only decorations being the legion identification and a few graffiti phrases.

Nice job on the test model and the ideas and brief history of the legion are very cool.  Good luck on the project.  Sounds like a lot of work that will be a lot of fun.

Pretty cool
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Taking some inspiration from Mad Doc Morris: http://lead-mountain.blogspot.com/search/label/Centurions

As well as Big Red Batcave:  http://bigredbat.blogspot.com/2009/06/newly-raised-legions.html, http://bigredbat.blogspot.com/search/label/Caesarian%20Romans

I finally got some work done this week.  I tried about three or four color schemes, and finally settled on this one.  I really enjoyed the look of the graffiti shields and decided the whole legion would have them.  I imagine this legion to be one of Octavian's stationed in Macedonia.  In Dando Collins: Nero's Killing Machine, he mentions that several legions guarded the border of Thrace while Octavian and Mark Antony cleaned up Caesar's assassins in Greece.  That is where I got the idea for these this project.  I will hopefully have some more progress next week.  Till then comments welcome.
