A four year old general.
« on: March 13, 2013, 09:13:24 AM »
So what happens when you figure out a way to play fantasy battles with your 4 year old? Lots of really good father son time that’s what. Please do have a look at the first few pages of a battle report we did together, he insisted I should be doing an evil laugh like in the game and that tree men roar. We used a system of our own devising using special dice, Arthur was able to see exactly how well his troops were doing and really got involved.

If you’re interested in how things went please do follow the link to the blog to see how things turned out

Very cool, must have been greatly enjoyable to both generals :) Is your son already asking for another such epic battle to be fought?

That's actually one of the most fun battle reports I've ever read. Please do one for the next battle. I really like how you tackled complex rules by using custom dice.. Idea nicked!

I happen to think that in the first page you look rather more excited then he does  lol I know that feeling.

Top man yourself. This is a really inspiring and feel good post. Cheers.

He has been bugging me for a game for a good year. And yes it is possible I was more excited, close run ting. My favorite picture is his exultation after the dwarves first success.

I'll detail the dice soon, this is the down side to the way we are doing things, you need lots of different dice.

Great writeup!  I look forward to seeing how the dice work.  My son is almost 2, so perhaps he will be ready to play sooner than I thought!  :D

The look on his face...priceless! I've got 2 little girls- hopefully they will play. Number one is already showing interest in mini painting...

I like the hammer/helm attack/defend matching mechanism - would love to see more about that at some point.

Awesome that you've gotten the boy hooked, too. From the look on his face in those photos, he'll be back for more!

Great stuff ,my five year old has played some home brew dungeon crawl akin to your goblinquest  will have to look at your system as he is itching to play battles. My teenage daughter likes Ad&d and wants me to run more adventures so its all good  lol

The presentation of your reports is excellent and capture the enthusiasm of your son (and yours) .My five year old asks a few times a day whether we can play now though  :)
