Ada: Eisenkern Sniper...
« on: 13 March 2013, 10:55:09 PM »
...hmmm...not happy with the 'barrel'. Should I 'camo' it?

The gun is huge David   :o I think I'll have to fit a bipod to it when I do mine.

Don't know what would work best thb maybe as is.

Beautiful work!  I would not camo the barrel but agree a bipod would look good.  :)

I don't think cammo would do it. maybe some material wrapped around the barrel to break the form like this :

Also, if she's a sniper, where's the scope ?

Looks amazing

I agree...a scope will identify her as a sniper without problems (but...because there is always a "but"...some snipers like Simo Häyhä didn't use a scope...I think he was an alien  ::) )

without wanting to bash figure sculpt or paintjob or anything - the size of the gun requires a bipod at least.

if it is to be a sniper without camo at all to stay in tune with the general concept of the army, she'd better have some optical disguise field of sorts to hide, because otherwise I don't see her sniping anything

A scope would work, with a gun that big and no sights she'd have to guess a lot when it came to hitting something at a distance. A bipod would be handy too!

Awesome work mind.

Quote
The rifle is a magnetic linear accelerator, the smooth barrel housing contains coils that are charged by the chambered round.
In game terms it’s a ‘Capacitor Rifle’ each shell is a highly charged capacitor with a ballistic tip coated in Nano fibers. The capacitor charge powers up the coils in the barrel and accelerates the projectile much faster than conventional solid or liquid combustibles. It will punch a small hole through very thick armor. A nasty rifle with a big kick, the Valkir use a similar weapon but they ware power armor and have considerably more mass to deal with the recoil. Ada has learned how to lean into the shot and lock her body into position. When the round is discharged she will remain standing but is driven back a foot or two.
Tough little gal :)

..and this from Mark
"Why no scope or sights? The armor will not allow you to get a cheek weld. so sights and scopes would be useless. When I designed these I thought about that and decided they would need to use a retinal projection in the helmets or on from the rifle. The helmet with the flip down display was meant to be used on the fireteam leaders and is a digital map projector with the location of all the troops under their command."

I didn't say that.... ;) like the optics option.  I do think it needs a bipod.  That sculpt though,  not great and no real weight of the weapon translated in the sculpt. lovely pj though as ever.
