Thanks.
We have compiled several versions of the Songs of games but for close combat, Flashing steel has several cool rules.
I also "created" a couple of rules or slightly changed activation rules (in case you rolled three dice and were "turn over" your opponent could get a free activation for his next turn, max four).

If anyone is interested in the tourney rules, just let me know. They're in french but well if you already know the Songs of system, translation shouldn't be an issue with Babelfish and the likes.

Thanks. They look good. I'm usually not a big fan of clan war minis.

Most of them are pretty big (like 35 mm) and some aren't really good but there are some small gems like the ones Tom Meier made (30 mm):

That's pretty cool! I use regular SBH with my samurai and love how it works. Why is Flashing Steel better?

I wouldn't say it's better. But it adds one or two rules and several interesting skills for close combat such as follow on, great defense, lucky tatoo, main gauche, murderous and riposte as well as a couple of others. Or whip which is great for ninja weapons like the kusari gama. There are also one or two cool "character skills" such as parrot/monket, one leg, etc. The version with the teens fighting vampires is great is that aspect too.

Honestly, if you don't feel the need for more skills and/or think 8 USD might not be worth it, don't buy Flashing steel or any other new version. I do really like the Songs of system and want a ton of options but that's just me. I can now almost create "accurate" profiles for every mini I got.

It's from Perry Miniatures. There are two civilians references and they're sweet.

I'm not 100% sure but he's credited in the rulebook and on some blisters or boxes too.

I tend to think he has done that one too (unfortunately no longer on sale on Valiant website) because it's the same "style" and size:

I read somewhere he had done that one too but she is a bit taller than the other minis I suspect he made for Clan war:

He probably made a few others.

Well, Tom Meier or not, those are excellent minis and Clan war has a lot of other cool ones.

She certainly looks like one of his. I bought a bunch of Clan War minis recently (my in-laws and their kids all play kendo so they're getting a samurai family for Xmas). The Clan War samurais are an odd assortment, some really excellent figures and others with odd proportions and poses.

Hida Sukune is my hands down favorite:

Hida Yakamo stands head and shoulders above the rest and should come with some kind of scale warning-
