Samurai Salute 2013 **18.04.13 Final layout (finally)**
« on: March 15, 2013, 10:18:14 PM »
Left this a bit late for a thread leading up to the big day but I've had more than my fair share on my plate  :(

Anyway, on to some pictures  :)

I've recently finished three more building bases for my samurai demo game at Salute this year and I must admit I'm quite pleased with them. There are still a couple of details to go on, such as benches and stalls but they are pretty much there.

The layout will be similar to last year but with the addition of six foot of castle wall on the back edge  :)

I'll be borrowing some bases from a good friend (I made them for him a while back) and I have some others that I've kept. As the weeks count down I'll be posting more sections of the table itself so I can get an idea of how best to lay them all out (with the able assistance of my lovely wife).

Watch this space  :D

cheers

James

We may actually make the effort this year. Where do we find your table?

I'm hoping to cross the pond and be there this year.  Hopefully there are no Icelandic volcanoes on the verge of erupting.

Thanks for the comments chaps  :)

We will be at table GA22 in the same sort of place as last year. When you come in through the front entrance we are on the far left hand side.

I'll get some more out and maybe some boards this afternoon  :)

cheers

James

Are you still needing helpers?
If so, it looks like all 3 of us will be there.

Wow! That's a quality set up; really nice. Yet another table I won't be seeing at Salute  :'(
I was all set to go this year till I worked out that the round trip would be 12 train/bus/underground trips over 9 hours for £120 (that's with a cheap main ticket). Get loads of photos guys!

Top of the Wargames Tree as always James..gorgeous buildings with exquisite detail for the platinum polish.
Are you aware of the new Samurai skirmish rules called Ronin coming out in August from our friends at Osprey?..your stuff will sell in droves as a result I reckon and I intend to put a large order in over the summer.
These rules will be set in C16th and I was wondering if Japanese architecture was largely similar through the Gempei War and upto the C16th?
Cheers

Thanks chaps  :)

Got a wall section made at work today an dill take some progress photos tomorrow.

These rules will be set in C16th and I was wondering if Japanese architecture was largely similar through the Gempei War and upto the C16th?
Cheers
Kev

Certain elements can be used throughout such as pagodas/temples and the like and also more rural buildings but like most areas in the world, a period of several hundred years can show substantial change.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot on Gempei period architecture at the moment but that does seem to be changing in Japan as the era is getting more attention. Hopefully in the coming months I'll be able to start an earlier period range, I've already got plans for an Edo period set of buildings  :)

cheers

James
