There's also the West Wind separate head packs... perhaps they might be workable if there are no arthurian-style heads...

Brilliant!
But would it work?
Has it been done?

I have those heads, but I don't have any GB plastics - I would give it a try with those, as I imagine the armoured viking/saxon bodies would be a comparable size to the unarmoured ones.

Given that the plastics haven't been released yet, I'd say it hasn't been done yet :)
I expect it'd work though as the figures usually scale okay.
So many projects..... so little time.......

Silly goose!  lol
What about the plastic figures Gripping Beast already has out?
Scale is one thing, but a snug fit would be ideal.

I think they fit (GBs armored plastic and WW helmeted heads) well together, they are about same size.
Only problem is different assembly points, sculpting long hair will help covering neck area.

At last! Darren from GB promised these were coming "soon" at Vapnartak 2012!

Cheap Saxons, Welsh and Romano-Brits here we come!
Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe, hammer to fit, paint to match!

The GB Saxon/Viking Plastics work fine with the WestWind heads, as mentioned it takes some cuting to get the heads in place and a bit of green stuff to. Used the combo on my Swedish Crusader for my Baltic Crusade project

I used mostly the pict hood heads just adding a collar and on some a tail on the hood.

like on this sledge rider mad of a GB plastic Saxon and a WW hooded head, more pictures here

Best regards Michael
