nice skirmish sized ruleset?
« on: March 17, 2013, 08:50:34 AM »
hi all,

I've been searching for a nice skirmish sized ruleset or the great war. I do have The Great War by Warhammer Historical but I think it requires a bit to many models. I enjoyed Rules of Engagement by Great Escape games as it is a nice platoon sized wargame for WW2 with about 50 miniatures per side.

Do any of you outstanding gentleman know any nice platoon sized rulesets?

Contemptible Little Armies by Chris Peers
Specifically WW1 set..name escapes me.There are also supplements for different theatres if the war and I have the Palestine/Mesopotamia one
Well laid out, simple rules and all the various weapons and tables provided for
Outstanding
Looked it up and it's the World War 1 era rules..1910-1928 costing £16.95 from Northstar

Through the mud and blood seems fun after reading some reviews.
How many soldiers would make up an average 40 man platoon? are there any differences between the nations?
Does the ruleset support tanks?

national charateristics are covered in the book and expanded upon in the add on stout hearst scenario book and in the TFL specials ,the main book covers tanks ,aircraft ,artillery everything you need .Depending on the scenario and nationality there are there are usually 3 sectionsof 8-10 figures plus commanders ,runners etc .
