Speedpainting the Dead
« on: March 18, 2013, 11:58:36 AM »
Well, new rule: no more small side projects.
The last 'just a few undead for Advanced Heroquest' has, of course, escalated in the beginnings of vampire counts army.
I have found out they are a blast to paint, especially since I'm not overdoing it and getting some nice results FAST.

First of some skeletons.

I've made a little tribute to everyone's favorite skeleton horde. I don't like the undead musicians from the box as they're a bit overdone IMHO.

I've tried to make the ghouls less human and more 'lovecraftian'. I had just read 'the lurking fear' and it inspired me to do them this way.

Some graveguard, I just like these models. Again I try to shy away from the more over the top elements in the kit, as far as that's possible in an undead horde.

And my favorite, the shambling horde. I wasn't to crazy about GW's zombies, but with the right colors (as in: not the colours GW tends to paint them), they're actually pretty good. I'm a huge zombie fan, so these guys are great to paint. 40 more to go in the unit.

A small tribute to the original Heroquest zombie.

Just thought I'd share them with you.
It really inspired me to do some more speedpainting and get some models done.
I've lately really tried to up my game and though it really shows in my painting, the projects are few.
I'll keep the detailed stuff for the special models and try to get some bulk done. The best part of painting, to me, is finishing a project after all and it's not that I'm lacking projects.

Looking nice so far. I've never been able to speed paint anything so I'm really envious here.  ;)
But that's still a lot of models you'll have to go through...

Very cool undead! The paint jobs look very nice, I especially like the colour schemes of the ghouls, very effective and the dark colours suit them much better than green (urgh...). I love the piper as well! Gotta love army of darkness  :-*

I like the look of an undead army and this one is no exception. These guys look fantastic (especially for speed painting), the first skeletal unit is my favourite, along with the piper.

Very nice painting,

Yeah, I have another 20 skeletons done, so I'm about halfway there.
Still this is the first of these big projects I do that I'm painting them faster then I can buy, so that's new.

Thanks.
