I do have a tendency to go a littler overboard on collecting figures.  But, in the end, I will have a very nice collection of figures to leave to posterity -- hopefully many decades from now! 

Thanks for the replies.  The river made a public appearance today and it was gratifying that one of the locals whose opinion I respect said it look better in person than in the photos.  It was really something of a proof of concept exercise and now I can plan to build a river for my very own -- and make at least one solid stretch a good deal wider to accommodate those later period craft in that post.
