British forces come under attack on Mars. An AAR 27/03/13
« on: March 27, 2013, 09:50:06 AM »
Last night Jimbibbly, Dr De'Ath and myself attempted another playtest of our VSF adaption of Sharp Practice ahead of our large scale game at Salute in a few weeks. This time we introduced new Skiff with rules for aerial actions.

The scenario was simple, a British convoy was attempting to reach the relative safety of a fortified farm complex whilst under constant attack from roaming bands of Sky Martians intent on cutting them down...

The British column moves cautiously towards the farmstead

The safety of the heavily defended farm is ahead.

But Martian warriors appear to threaten them.

The civilian workers and Coolies carrying  valuable tea are run down.

They put up a stiff resistence but don't last long.

The Nordenfelt is also quickly over run.

Disaster strikes the Grenadier Guards Impervious Suits division. Private Widdle's suit overheats and explodes before he enters the action.

A Martian skiff passes overhead and is subjected to dsciplined rifle fire from the sailors below.

Despite the loss of the tea and the Nordenfelt gun team. The combined fire from the sailors defending the farm and disciplined volley fire from the advancing sailors is sufficient to see the Martians leaving the fight.

Blimey. Guv'ner!
They saw the blighters off!
Must be the stiff upper lip what done it.

You did manage to lose the tea, though, old chap.
Not good. Not good at all!

Great stuff, chaps.
Gorgeous eye candy!

(Must say that I thought the Grenadier Guards had been issued with malfunctioning emergency airbags at first glance, though...... ::))

At least the flyer didn't go down in the first turn  lol

We were getting all unnecessary about how spanking the Salute game will look with loads of skiffs and Martians on the table  :-*

Two questions:

1) What are the Impervious suits based on?

2) What's the recipe for that pearly martian armour?

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

The Impervious suits are Eureka Miniatures from the Pax Limpopo range with Redoubt Miniatures head swaps.

The Pearlescent armour is Jimbibbly's own recipe. I believe its white with a bit of silver and some gloss varnish all mixed in. There are probably other things in there, that I can't remember. I'm sure he will fill us in.

Funny you should mention that, we discussed a return to Sherwood forest after Salute. :) ;)

Those pesky sailors were a bit tuffer than the tea-wallahs, and the new volley fire amendment made short work of one of our martian units.

Great looking game again guys and finally a "win" for the good guys!!  :)

The poor fellow in the Grenadier Guards Impervious Suits division sure went up in a puff of steam/smoke!!  :o

What did you do with the skiffs rule wise?

Three altitudes to fly at: low, medium and high. Two actions for the big man in charge of the skiff. One action to change altitude, two actions to make a double move.one action to deploy troops from low altitude.one action to fire a harpoon.skiffs have an armour rating equal to a numbe pr of dice rolled when hit.
