Bateson's Clockwork Labour
« on: March 28, 2013, 12:25:56 PM »
Bateson's Clockwork Labour for field and factory. Deluxe (in brass) for domestic service. These are Ral Partha figures from the early 1990s. They were Terminator style antagonists for a space RPG. They had been sitting in my lead pile for quite a while. By happy coincidence there's a detail on their heads that looks like a wind up key.

Hey! I have some of those - from the Space Knights line, right?

I had some of those -- they were nice models, though very slender and fragile. The game was pretty heavily promoted, but I'm not sure it ever even came out.

Yours look very nice -- I like the idea of the deluxe model.

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen. Sinewgrab is right, they are from the Space Knights line. I had to do some google-fu to confirm this, It had been so long since purchase I had forgotten. James was right about the slender and fragile part when I rediscovered them they were all twisted up. Bateson was an actual Victorian inventor. He came up with a safety coffin to prevent premature burial. Queen Victoria gave him an accommodation for it.

I oft wondered about that. I never had any of the 'Necrovore' you've got there, but did have several of the Psion faction.

According to BGG, the whole 'Hot Lead' which I seem to recall as supposed to be balanced, cross-genre, gaming left a bad taste in Steve Jackson's mouth.
