12 pounds for 12 pages... well, TBH, the other supplements are 12 pounds for about 20 pages, not a big difference.  The only real stuff included is the description of the factions, and maybe one scenario in each supplement.  You are basically paying for the battle boards.  This supplement is also supposed to have a fancy cardboard folder to carry your boards and books, which is nice I guess.

I think that 10 pounds would have been better, considering there are only 3 new factions instead of 4, or they could have added in a 4th warband to even it out nicely.

But really... 12 pounds is not a lot of money.  That's what, like 10 figures?  Maybe 20 plastic ones?  (You might get one hero model from GW...)  For well written, balanced rules with wonderful presentation.  I don't think its that outrageous.  A bit disappointing, yes, but still acceptable.

I guess that's the thing they were hinting at when they showed a stack of mdf sheets and said it was 9 lbs. for a structure.

That price is pretty ridiculous - but I absolutely love my 4Ground stuff (easily the best MDF lasercut stuff I've experienced).  I'd love to play a 13th Warrior scenario in  something like that.  Shame it's so pricey.  Pre-painted and a joy to assemble though.  They really do make some top-quality stuff.

One faction - the byzantines - is not new. It is released in Wargames Illustrated. 8 Pounds would be ok, 12 Pounds is not ok.

Yes, but it's a copy of Wargames Illustrated that sold out completely. So while it may not be new, it is unavailable unless you pick it up second hand and/or use a photocopied battleboard. £12 does seem high for what you get but I don't think it's unreasonable. I have the WI with the Byzantines and I have a Byzantine force. I'll pick one up just to have the Battleboard as a proper board and not the back of my magazine.
So many projects..... so little time.......

I've got a lot of sympathy with both sets of views.

You DO have to spend money to keep the companies going. They aren't charities, and unless we spend there won't be any nice new releases of any sort.

However, I can't buy everything I would like. My budget will simply not stretch to it. So, I either wait and buy everything and have it all by the time everyone else has moved on to play something else, or I do some stuff myself on the cheap.

I think another thing is the spectre of "well those figures/buildings/dice were for the LAST edition of the rules, so they aren't usable in this game..."

Business is based on the principal of growth. In the minis/wargame industry the way to grow is to make new minis, new supplements or to revise rules/supps and sell again. Suggesting that "it's time to stop" producing new supplements is like asking the company to fail and really goes against basic business theory. It's not really a reasonable request for a company that wants to succeed.  The best thing is to vote with your money and not purchase what you think is superfluous.

I had the WI Byzantine battleboard  colour- copied onto the thickest cardboard available at the copy shop. Still a lot thinner than the 'official' GB battleboards.
Cost? 5 Euro or about 4 Pounds. Somehow I feel 12 pounds for a supplement with 3 battleboards,  and some pages with nice eye candy is pretty good value. Especially for a game that will undoubtedly give me years of wargaming fun.
