[solved]evolutive minis ?
« on: April 05, 2013, 12:38:18 AM »
Hi,

I'm wondering if any brand is making multiples minis of the same character, to represent it evolution (from level1 to a powerfull adventurer) ?

I'm currently preparing to play warrior heroes:legend and I'd like to have something like that for my hero.

thanks

There's an older series that has figures in three stages, but the manufacturer escapes me at the moment.

Ral Partha did that, IIRC. I think others have done similar. RAFM and Grenadier perhaps.
Dragontooth did mounted and dismounted versions.

I don't think anybody currently does, though Reaper seems to be doing multiple versions of the Pathfinder Iconic characters.

I would like to for Tekumel characters but haven't gone about it in a coordinated fashion and everything takes so long, anyway, so it might be a while.   :-I

That's right! They were the Ral Partha 3 Stage Player Character models from Tom Meier.

Hello gents, Citadel (in 1985) started sculpting AD&D three stage miniatures as well. They are now hard to find and expensive when you do. It would be a really cool range for a company (Reaper?) to start again.

Thank you for the help.

Concerning ral partha, they are true 25mm, arent they ? I believe I've got a few ones of this brand (very old minis) and they are significantly smaller than my other 28mm figures.

Might be worth asking Otherworld Miniatures if they have plans to do anything like that.

Hasslefree Miniatures have different versions of some of their figures representing earlier and more experienced incarnations.

Some examples:
Liberty

Kalee

Deth & taxxis

Wolf

Heresy does this with their Boris the Barbarian character too.

Liberty mini is great  :o the other ones are not of my taste. :D

I also like the old metal magic amazon range. A lot of personality in that range.

Typically my kind of woman  lol

I went on Fenryll website, some nice (and quite affordable, regarding the kind of special thematic) figures too :

I'm not sure of the scale. I've got very old magicians from fenryll, and they were pretty big in my memory.

These figures are really nice, but they are too pricey for my own taste.

I think the solution maybe using metal magic or D&D minis, and make some sculpting and conversions. Or go for fenryll, but I don't know the real scale of them (you all know that 28mm can vary a lot from a brand to another one).

I've got the Ral Partha Druid 3 stage set, and the scale is just right for my GB/Foundry/Citadel Arthurian stuff. They came out after RP did the true tiny 25mm stuff, and were some lovely sculpts.
