http://www.splinteredlightminis.com/index.html (15 and 20 mm)

http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/adventure.html (15mm, but some probably could be used for 20mm as well)

http://lonegunmangames.com/products.php (again 15mm but depending on what you're looking for some still should be useable)

http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=FM (again 15mm, but the Barbarians are quite big and come close to being 20mm)

There's also quite a few 28mm minis that work well for monsters, demons, giants etc.

I believe ral Partha Europe has started up, the old demon world range of 15mm fantasy armys.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

As Frothers' infamous 'orrid 'amsters still are on holiday (dastardly little furrballs, they're probably frolicking in the sun someplace nice), I can't link to the topic there, so shoved the stuff onto my blog. Funnily enough the only thing I've posted there so far- might give you some ideas for monsters: http://inkthetroll.blogspot.de/2013/04/28-for-15-part-01.html

Eureka Minatures have a nice 18mm range based on the LotR.

The Ral Partha Demonworld miniatures would best be described as 18mm, but most will not match "20mm" miniatures. To my understanding, there really are not any 20mm fantasy miniature ranges.  Mostly people refer to 1:72 as being 20mm, and dont ask me why. 1:72 if to scale would make a 6" tall miniature to be 1" tall to the top of the head.   Of coarse, 1" is 25mm and I believe alot of the 25mm miniatures measure to the eyes, so some of these are taller then 1:72 or are sometimes not to proportion.  But my understanding what some people call 20mm is really the 1:72.

There is not a lot of 1:72 metal fantasy but most of it is plastic.  Personally, I like the 1:72 size a lot, BUT... for wargaming, I went with the 15mm (concentrating on the 18mm miniatures like Demonworld and Battle Valor), and for RPG use 28mm is probably much more useful.  There is only limited amount of 1:72 so your limited in your choices. Since almost all of the 1:72 is plastic, it is much more expensive to produce small runs plastic miniatures, and most of the 1:72 fantasy is by companyies who primarily do 1:72 plastic miniatures for WW2 Wargaming, and they have just added the fantasy to what they produce for the WW2 guys.

If your not heavily invested in 1:72 (ie 20mm) I would recommend either 15mm or 28mm, even though what is produced in 1:72 is quite nice.

A lot of 15mm goblins/orcs are actually better suited to 1/72 than 15mm - especially if you go with Tolkien/the Monster Manual on orc/goblin height. The Alternative Armies range is one example; they're no smaller than humans in 15mm but look about right as 4' tall creatures in 1/72.

I wouldn't agree on the Copplestone barbarians; they're chunky in 15mm, but they look tiny next to 1/72 figures. But the Copplestone picts are viable as goblins or mythological pygmies or something similar.

At the other end, lots of Ral Partha 25mm stuff (much of it still in production) works quite well. The Julie Guthrie gnolls, for example, are far too small for 28mm but are just right in 1/72 or 20mm. And they're great miniatures. Even some of the earliest RP adventurers work quite well. From what I've read, I gather that Tom Meier originally made his "25s" 25mm to the top of the head, not the eye, which is why those figures are so small. That, of course, brings them in line with 1/72, heightwise. The heads tend to be bigger, because the RP figures have the exaggerated proportions of 25mm, but in many cases they're OK - especially if they have hoods or turbans.

And lots of the goblin line are fine - they're small and skinny, and fit right in.

Given the range of monstrous beings possible in fantasy, you could also look at Oathmark goblins. I've got a couple for use as an orc chieftain's guard for 1/72 RPGs. They're big and bulky in 1/72, but they'd fit right in as D&D Orogs or whatever.

There are also finds to be had in the official D&D/Nolzur's range from Wizzkids. The orcs make great 1/72/20mm ogres, and the half-orcs might work well as bugbears. In general, that range has more realistic proportions than most 28mm, so they look odd next to (e.g.) Citadel or Grenadier, but fit right in as bigger creatures in 1/72. And the goblins are absolutely tiny - smaller than most 1/72 goblins. I've just based three up as lurkers for my 1/72 HOTT army.

Of the 15mm orcs, if you are wanting larger metal ones, probably your best bet is the Battlevalor Orcs, as they are much larger then many of the other 15mm orcs.  The Battle Valor Orc measure about 18/19 mm from foot to eye, and about 22mm from foot to top of head, where as  the Demonworld orcs are about 15mm tall from foot to top of head.  Splintered light "heavy" orcs are also on the larger size.  and Khurasan Great Orcs may also work for you.  But from what you indicate, Check out the Battlevalor Orcs, as there is quit alot to choose from.

So does anyone have any of those Elhiem figures?  I know there are cheap in the grand scheme of things, but I’d still like to see them next to some Caesar figures, say, before putting in an order.

here you go (for scale comparison a 1/72 Zvezda warrior)

You should also take a look at Elhiem's other ranges like Pulp or Rennaissance. Some of them could be used as fantasy-stuff. Also I use Elhiem's afghan women as fantasy-cultists ;)
