Mordheim Vampire Hunters Campaign: Completed
« on: April 06, 2013, 03:31:02 PM »
Over a year ago I posted a link to my brother Jim's blog where he was reporting on a collaborative campaign he was running using the Mordheim/Empire in Flames rules.  The three allied warbands (Sisters of Sigmar, dwarves, and Kislevites) were hired to defend a small town against the forces of a vampire.  After a long delay, Jim has posted the final battle report which brings the campaign to a close.  Lots o'pictures plus a thrilling story (based on some pretty complicated strategic rules that forced the players to really think hard about how to use their manpower resources... he has the rules on the site as well).

Here's the link:

Epic stuff! I would love to be able to persuade my mob to extract their digits and put in the effort to do something similar with Mordheim in future.

I think it took Jim a year to do the modelling and painting.  Of the three players, he is the only one who paints.

We started the campaign here, in addition to our (mostly) regular Friday D&D games.  But we were only ever to play very irregularly, and it never built up much momentum, and a couple of the players were careless about taking notes about improvements, etc... so we have shelved it.  Might try again when we are a bit more focused - and if I can convince them to make it the regular Friday night game.

Alex, some of the figures I was preparing for the game were LAM figures... and I think Jim used some for militia.

Sadly I did not get all the Brugelburg minis I purchased painted in time for play.  I used one for Sgt. Lowenherz, and one for the town burgermeister, but the three or four I really wanted to use - women wielding various kitchen implements as weapons for town milita - I never got 'round to painting.

I'm sure there'll be a second chance at some point!

Having not read the others, I kinda/sorta skipped about and then went to the conclusion (well written, by the way).  I used to play Mordheim frequently and always anticipated the end of the game.

Sounds like a great campaign.  Nice to see you had dedicated enough characters etc.  Looks like a great time.  Nice story-telling.

Very entertaining series of articles. Thanks for posting them.

I have downloaded the campaign guides, will have to try and get some of the local gamers interested in playing it through.
