I dunno, it looks like it could be to samurai what 300 was to hoplites... and stupid as 300 was, it was enjoyable.

Personally, I'd be a lot more concerned if Keanu Reeves was in it and they attempted to play it straight.

A good way to put it; If I can enjoy 300 for what it was, I guess I could enjoy 47 Ronin, too.

I was really against this movie as I have read a lot about the actual 47 Ronin both truth and folklore, but having seen the trailer i will go see it, with a view that I am watching a Japanese fantasy movie. Time to switch the brain off, but even then I am pretty sure I will come out fuming, expect a rant from me on here in a few month's time

Yeah, he was the historical advisor. We commissioned him to do the RAID title on the 47 Ronin, then later that week he was approached to work on the movie. I'm not saying Osprey had a hand in that, but...

After seeing the trailer I am left feeling quite ill.  I guess I was hoping for something else...not a sword and sorcery fantasy movie.  Since they are going off into the realm of goofyness, perhaps they could have hired Tom Cruise to be the hero's dwarf sidekick (after all, he learned sword-play for The Last Samurai).

Just seen the trailer and was rather disappointed to see that Hiroyuki Sanada is in it 

I suppose if I can forget the title then it might just be watchable
