We use a large horde of Nick Lund's orcs (purchased from http://www.mirliton.it/) as one of our major Orc races, and didn't have enough bannermen to take the field.

I picked a troublesome spearman and a couple of my old school favorites from the Grenadier Battle Orcs, and demanded mods from my husband. I'm quite happy with the final figures he made for me. I have step-by-step photos on my blog: http://swordandsorceryRPG.com

The fellow on the left I think came from a Grenadier blister pack. (Anyone recognize him? I'll sleep easier tonight.)

"We" is also 2 dedicated players who game with us once a month.

We've played several different campaigns in our home-brew world through the decades and orclands have frequently been the theater. The orcs in our world are just like men. They are our dark side of humanity.

Like men, there are many factions and classes. There are savage orcs, tribes of orcs with iron-smelting technology, and there are fully civilized orcs who live in cities and deal with humans.

These bannermen mods are Iron Orcs, of two different Great Northern Tribes. They are currently united against our player-characters, humans in the disputed southern lands in our campaign Sagas of the Gautrian Kings.

I'm in the process of getting this info, with lots of pix, all together on a blog. Little bits at a time.

I'm finding many other orc fans out here!

Here is one of our urog kings, Valden the Ruthless, surrounded by his bannermen:

The Old Orcs look TERRIFIC sporting their FINE paint jobs & SPLENDID banners. They bring back memories of the hordes of minis I did for my erstwhile AD&D Group...people & times long gone. Aside from the melancholia caused, VERY WELL DONE!

The models are well funky, cool stuff.

I wish 'my' little gaming group was a bit more dedicated to getting long lasting campaigns and stories coming out. Having said that I manage to cancel as many games as everyone else in the group.

Jevenkah,
I salute your Nick Lund horde - and some excellent banners there!
I was fortunate enough to have some of the later Chronicle standard bearers with variant flags as well as converted some early Chronicle orcs to PJ film-style Uruk banners when the films came out.

and a combo of the lead-foil and misc parts from my bits box

Seeing your horde reminds me to inject some cash into my own horde and boost the numbers!

Thanks all!

I wish 'my' little gaming group was a bit more dedicated to getting long lasting campaigns and stories coming out. Having said that I manage to cancel as many games as everyone else in the group.

We've averaged slightly over 1 adventure per month for the last 30 months. It's worked well for so long for a few reasons:
1) the blood-bonds in our group (besides my husband and myself, there's his cousin).
2) because of that, there's only 3 schedules to coordinate, and I bring out the calendar at the end of every session.
3) the world has 20+ years of history, characters, maps, photos, *.doc files AND THEN all the landscape and minis that surround players as they walk in to our gaming space.
4) I think most importantly we have players that are dedicated to having a fun time when they are here gaming in our house.

The Old Orcs look TERRIFIC sporting their FINE paint jobs & SPLENDID banners. They bring back memories of the hordes of minis I did for my erstwhile AD&D Group...people & times long gone. Aside from the melancholia caused, VERY WELL DONE!

I hope some are good memories of painting the great features on these guys. It's hard thinking how fast the time does go by, though. Again, we've been lucky to have found players as into our game as we are.

I enjoyed playing spot-the-figures-we-have with your horde. There's something I find so chilling about big forces of orcs!

But I don't remember this single one...

Thank you, getting closer to solving it.

Here are Vendel Orcs which we use in our world to represent the orcs of Nil-ith Horn:

These bannermen were made before we had the epoxy my husband used to make the Vangen orc banners with the Nick Lunds above.

And to understand some of the make-up of these 2 orc tribes, come visit the blog:
