Pulp City First set of Fire Escapes, how to build one
« on: May 01, 2013, 05:43:41 AM »
I started making a modular city block for pulp action games by making buildings out of foam core and locating and running pictures through my Paint program to put features on them, the sidewalks and street. Definitely a work in progress but here is city hall:

Well done Alfrik! I really like that you did the sidewalks nice and wide.

Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Been building along, one at a time, and now have the majority of buildings done and thought that it was time for a street shot. I moved the side walk blocks in to force the perspective and give a better idea of the 4 foot length of the board as its progressing.

This is looking better each time I open the thread. I really like how that street glares, like it just rained, or a misty morning as the fog rolls in off the lake...

Very nice.
I've become a recent convert of cardstock buildings.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Main computer down  >:(  and it has all the needed pictures for print on remaining buildings  :'( In the mean time I have to cobble brick prints for the streets and just got the thin plastic sheets for the underlayment. Almost time to lay out the Subway track and storm drains in the base Styrofoam.

Cobble brick road bed added. Figured with the computer back up I should get some progress on Pulp City done. First was to get the road placards faced with cobble brick material.

Now back to the fire escape ladders and finish up the building fronts.

Looking good.
I've been considering road tile for my own 30's cardstock terrain.

I used thin sign plastic to apply the cobble brick prints to, and then on the Back of the cobble brick prints I will probably affix an asphalt road surface print for later period roads.

First set of Fire Escapes added to new building set.  Thought it was time to get a set done and mounted, and as was typical, to mount them on the front of the building.

There were various types of fire escape bottom ladders to chose from, I worked this out as easy to build and visually representational as to what it is and how it works.
