Necromunda Redemptionists
« on: April 21, 2008, 04:50:15 AM »
The very first thing I ever painted was 11 Necromunda Redemptionists, back when the $60 for the box was a fortune. And I imagine they were awful. I repainted over it a couple years later. Then, I learned how to paint. They don't make that gang anymore, and I really liked them for sentimental reasons, so I went back, stripped the paint (Castrol SuperClean, iirc, this purple stuff that probably took years off my life, but worked extremely well), and, eventually, re-did them.

I'm just going to post the third and (hopefully!) final version of the various gang members here, with an embedded picture of what the second version ones looked like (I never got a picture of the first version, I was like 10). The pictures were designed for an album, so they probably aren't the prettiest format, but you'll get the idea:

Awesome. Never quite got the hang of those Reddies, but the painting surely is lovely - great use of red and slightly subdued yellows. And I donīt really have to comment on the "Before-After-Improvement", do I? ;)

Funny, I don't play Necromunda anymore, but I repainted my Escher gang half a year ago. Seems the Inhabitants of Hive Primus makes more ppl think of the good old days of GW than any other game...

btw. what colours did you use to achieve this fascinating red?
Far less active than I used to...

Excellent work there.  I really like the old Necromunda models and have a few gangs myself despite never having played the game.  One day...

The red was surprisingly easy, it's actually based with dark red, then highlighted with plain red, plain orange, and plain yellow.

Nice figures! I was more of an Escher and Orlock fan myself.  Liked the Ratskins, too.  Still got a bunch to do up.  GW's Specialist Games site still carries basic gangs of 8 figures but, other than the Eschers and Cawdors, don't have any booster packs.

Yeah, I bought a pack of Cawdor, plus a couple boosters. I think I have 13 figs total, if I recall correctly. They're likely going to be my next project!

I think you're quite right 8)

Great figures anmd great paint job! Definately better than the previous, and well it's a very striking gang anyway! :) The whole gang is rather dark though, but I'm sure it's intentional ;)
