Clothespin Battleships with my 3y/o
« on: May 03, 2013, 06:27:36 PM »
My 3y/o boy and I turned three bags of clothespins into battleships this week.  They're ready to paint, so I thought I'd toss some WIPs your way:

Parts and such - I let him use the superglue if my hand was on the bottle too.  White glue was not strong enough.

These are assembled as prototypes - the actual fleets are 16 models each.

The guns, landing strips, and planes are added (I did this part) and they're ready to paint.
You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

That's a great idea!

What rules are you planning on using or is it just a hobby project?

What an amazing idea!

I look forward to seeing these painted up, great way to get cheap, robust naval models!

Nice one Froggy! Good to see that you're getting a new generation involved in the creativity too.

I've kept a load of plastic ones for turning into aetherships for space-fleet battles, but it being me they're still sitting around unpainted. What have you used for gun-barrels?

Alas, they do not float, or at least they will be ruined if I try.  the gun barrels are clipped lengths of the clothespins' springs.

This is fantastic, the sort of thing I love doing if I need to chill for an hour or so.

I've a number of plastic cutlery handles that can't seem to decide if they are going to be spaceships, aeronefs, or naval ships. I shall show them these to see if it helps make up their minds.  lol

Yours would float with a quick hit of sealer, but don't claim they'd float upright.  ;)

Kudos on the passing down of love-of-building from 'junk'!

Doug
