Who makes 28mm English/European Victorian firemen
« on: May 04, 2013, 03:53:58 PM »
I'm putting together a 28mm Victorian collection and would like to include some English firemen, but the only company that I know of that makes Victorian firemen is Brigade, and they are wearing American-style fire helmet which I don't believe is a style worn in London or Europe.  Can any of you direct me to a company that makes 28mm firemen wearing English or European style Victorian fire helmets?  Thank you.  Richard

Thanks.  I have those figures, but I believe those are an American style helmet that was not used in London.  If I am not correct in that belief, I hope someone will direct me to some pictures that show that helmet style  worn in England during the Victorian era.  Richard

I looked into this a while ago and came to the conclusion I'd have to do some headswaps. The helmets were pretty fancy and if I remember rightly the closest match I could find was a French Cuirassier helmet (after being filed down and a tad of greenstuff added).

I think that's probably the way to go.  Thanks for the helmet picture, and for all the inspiration your Victorian work has given me.  As I do a few scratch built "London" structures of my own, I have pictures of your work in front of me in hope that some of what you have produced will rub off on my work.  I can only hope.  Richard

Westwind are releasing a Victorian fire engine on their EOTD range.
Maybe they might (evenrually) release some crew too?

Might be worth emailing them?

fastolfrus, that a good thought both in terms of what I should do and what West Wind should do.  I could never understand why so many wagons (I'm think of the large 25mm/28mm Blue Moon Wagon Ho line) are produced with no drivers.  I hope that given their making a fire engine, West Wind will also produce a fire crew as well.   Thanks.  Richard
