I've just painted the base color (white) then use a blister's foam to apply red-brown color, removing the excess paint, from the foam, on a piece of cardboard before.

The actual color on the shield is kind of red-brown in the middle, with a lighter shade of red outside the pattern… the idea was to look like dried blood… not that it show with my very poor photography skills

actually that is the first time, that I think this foam-technique is used for the right thing. I heard and saw it used for blood on miniatures ... but that seldom suits me ... on this shields though it looks good.

Uncle Mike, did you use a type of "dip" method for the cultist? If so, I absolutely love it and will employ in the future.

Hey Chambers,

I did dip them...in all honesty every entry this year has been dipped. I've been using the stuff for this last year (with varying results...) to try and get a finish that I am happy with. It does save a lot of time and gives an extra layer of protection as well. Great stuff!
