.45 Adventure - Which books for Indy & Co.?
« on: April 22, 2008, 09:46:06 AM »
Hi folks,
after looking closer at Gloire I'm a bit fascinated by the concept of small tables with story-telling encounters. Since I'm also a big fan of Indy, Stargate, The Mummy and the like, I thought about getting into .45 Adventure to 'replay' these types of adventures. But which books do you really need for that?
For example, I already own the demo rules - so is there need to pay for the core rules, if I'm not interested in this Al Capone stuff? Back of Beyond might be useful, too. But which to choose for some 'classic' Egyptian adventures with living statues or something? I'm even thinking about some linked scenarios from all over the world, say from the Brasilian jungle to Antarctica... Hundreds of possibilities.
But for now, where to start at best?
Thanks for any input!

Typing from an undisclosed location in Amsterdam...

If you have the demo version of the rules, then just pick up Dragon Bones for now and try things out. You should be able to see from that whether it fits what you're looking for. Try some of the free scenarios as well and you should be able to put together a great Indy game.

The main rules will provide different archetypes that could also be used for Indy (such as the G-man or War Veteran). Each archetype provides a different build and the professor in Dragon Bones may not have all the skills you want. But like I said, try just Dragon Bones first and see what you thik.

Hi,

we started with the basic rules. I recommend them a lot. You can play all you need with the basic rules.

But the supplements will make it much easier if you if you want to create characters. The books are also full with great scenarios, scenario ideas and new rules and skills.

For indiana Jones I would recommend the basic rules plus dragon bones. if you want some nazis in it,  pick  the Amazing War Stories too.

Cheers
Björn
