LRDG Trucks
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:29:30 PM »
Hi all

I'm thinking of getting some of these for our Bolt Action games and i'm torn between which companys to get.

Does anyone have any Company B and/or Offensive Miniatures trucks at all and which, in your opinion is the better model to go for?

Thanks alot

Andy

I have two of the Offensive Miniatures ones, they are all metal but are easy to put together. They also come with a crew, guns and extras like stowage, sand channels, etc. I reviewed them for WI Online but it isn't up there yet. Scale wise, they are a good match for the Perry plastic 8th Army but would also be ok for larger figures. I like my two Chevy's and would recommend them. £20 each and just glue and paint for the whole package.

Thanks for that :)

Anyone had Company B's trucks at all? I know they are more expensive but for quality etc?

Also, could i use both together, scale wise as the trucks were supposed to vary alot.

Thanks for the kind comments.

I would get your OM ones while you can at the current price as they might be about to go up. Don't tell the boss I told you!

Not wanting to compare directly, since we own it, and I don't want to detract from Offensives nice version of the same model...  But if you have ever seen the LRDG chevy sculpted by Ian Crouch - Chieftain Models - Our model is that precise kit.

A review of the kit is here:

Picture showing one of the Breda gun that also comes with the kit, painted by Neil Burt

The big difference I would think is that our Chevy is kit out the way Ian gave it to us and he tends to overload his kits with Extras.   The large Breda with vehicle and ground mountings, at least 4 sets of mounted lewis, twin lewis and vickers guns, ample stowage, and too many small bits to mention.  Said extras would work on both kits..so why not buy both!  You need at least 8 to field a unit anyway. And that way you'd have a good mix of crews and extras.

I'd have to sing the praises of the CompanyB choice as I have three of the original Crouch ones and they are excellent!
