Black Scorpion "Tombstone Figures"!! - PHOTO LINK
« on: May 07, 2013, 10:40:40 PM »
All,
My order finally arrived today after 13 excruciating days of waiting.  All I can say is wow!  The detail is just amazing.  Just a bit of clean up with a sharp knife and file, and I am ready to prime them.  Anyone who has doubts about resin casting, have no fear.  I just hope they add more mounted to the range.

No one is concerned with the resin casting...other than durability.  I have had both resin and metal BS figures -- both are great, I just vastly prefer metal for heft and less chance of catastrophic breakage should one drop from the table or a building.  BS figures are pretty big though, and my resin figures look pretty robust.  I also use Army Painter quick-shade which is a heavy varnish.  Hopefully the added protection will keep my figures in decent shape for a while.

I am going to find some way to weigh down the bases though.

PS: What sets did you get?

I got all the "basic" sets, plus The Earps and Pat Garrett.  I passed for the moment on the Apaches, Mexicans, Billy the Kid, the "Ladies" and the mounted guys.  All told around 38 figures.  I'm going to start with the Earps and five Cowboys to do the OK Corral scenario for Six Gun Sound, along with the civilians.

Do you think Knuckleduster's civilians would be too small?

The one pack of Knuckledusters that I have are pretty darned small...they may work with some ranges, but the BS really outscale them.  If you're just using them for vignettes or civilians in town, I wouldn't worry about it.

Everything looks small compared to Black Scorpion.

Having gamed with many other figures...I find BS to be large...and certain ranges to be medium...others to be small.  I don't noticed it much unless a small and large model are in hand to hand combat.

What I am going to do, is some minor conversion work on O gauge model railroad people to use as the innocent bystanders, along with the BS townsfolk.  They are a perfect match, but  bit slimmer.  When possible, I really prefer not to mix brads of minis.  Already finished the Earps, Doc and five Cowboys, just about done four townsfolk.  I paint very quickly when I am really revved up.

The Earps are my 3 favourite Black Scorpion figures.

As soon as I can figure out why my camera isn't taking pictures (when my youngest is home for the weekend ),  I will very definitely take pictures.  I've already gotten 20 figures painted!

I'm retired and I enjoy painting.  I usually listen to music while I paint, helps me focus.

I have a small dvd player and I just play my favorite films over and over - not watching them...but listening to them like audiobooks.  I can only manage 3-4 figures a night and that's at my lax painting standard.  :'(

I'm lucky if I manage 3-4 figures from January to June! :(
