Some 18th century horror gaming
« on: May 08, 2013, 05:52:12 AM »
I've been considering doing some horror gaming lately and was originally thinking of doing "Pike & Shot & Zombies", but due to the large amounts of tricorn wearing little folk we have lying around decided to try and utilize them.

So I guess it'll look something like this...

"Dont fire until you see the whites of their eyes!"

"Their eyes are ALL white Sir!"

"Then fire!! Fire!!"
“A prisoner of war is a man who tries to kill you and fails, and then asks you not to kill him.”

Thanks all

Yes from Mantic King's of War.  :)

They are very easy to paint and you can get some great low, bestial poses from them too, which I think look better than upright shambling. There is a body type with one of it's arms at a right angle though that I didn't quite know how to pose properly. The reaching and stooping types are awesome though.

I painted them very simply with Tallarn Flesh, followed by various red and black washes and finished with Army Painter. I'm thinking more risen from the grave, plague victim type zombies.

Great idea there! Recycling figures you all ready have for a new project is a plus.

That's what deterred me from trying "Pike & Shot & Zombies". I assume the author had a shed load of ECW minis and terrain and thought he'd like to do something different with them. I on the other hand would be painting up a whole different period I'm not really into just purely to play a zombie/horror game.

It wouldn't be a far stretch using P&S&Z in the 18th century but they don't really do exactly what I want, that is field a small force/unit against the undead.

We have played quite a few 18th Cent horror games. They make great pick up games when nobody can be bothered putting something on at the club. We use LOTHS with stats for zombies and stuff drafted in from Mordheim.
Simple fun games with Redcoats, zombies and pirates.

Actually plan on using LoTR rules ourselves. I think they suite this type of game. http://dusttears.blogspot.com.au/ where I got the desire to try some zombie action uses LoTR quite successfully.

We play and enjoy LOTR they are great rules, but when we play pirates we like to play campaigns where the crews gain new skills. So its LOTHS for our pirates.

If you are referring to my Cthulhu Invictus RPG campaign then yes unfortunately.

A player integral to the whole affair (ie venue, the other players etc) decided he just didn't want to play anymore.  :'(

A real shame really, it was going along nicely - big waste of my time in the end - but at least I got to play a bit.   :-[
