“Bataille d’Azincourt”- "The Big Shoot"
« on: May 08, 2013, 01:44:44 PM »
Hi,

As many of you will already be aware of it will be the 800th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt in 2015. There are a few events running that year:

Saturday 25th July 2015: "The Big Shoot"-

For anyone interested in Medieval warfare this is a must see event. The idea is basically to get 1000 archers wearing the correct early 15thC kit etc to loose of a series of volleys- something not seen by any margin since the end of the Hundred Years War.

Details here:

http://www.azincourt2015.info/

Sunday 26th July 2015: “Bataille  d’Azincourt”

The following day there will be a re-enactment of that fateful day:

Tuesday 7th - Saturday 24th October 2015: “The March”

Finally there will be a March simulating Henry's desperate plight as he and his army attempted to march on to the safety of Calais.

Something for all the family(?)  :smt001

The 800th anniversary isn't for another 200 years Darrell, I'm not expecting to make any of the events but I'll be there in spirit  ;)
Well I've lead an evil life, so they say, but I'll outrun the Devil on judgement day.

The Big Shoot sounds very interesting...I hope there are some good videos for us on the wrong side of the pond!

Cheers,

Yes, that would really be something to see. I'd be happy just to hear it!

600th!!  lol

You'll all have to excuse me, a close family member had major surgery yeaterday and we're all a bit fuzzy at present  o_o.

Yes, that would really be something to see. I'd be happy just to hear it!

Although it is quite close to what one of my friends recently described as ("that other skirmish"  lol). I'm going to take steps to make sure that I'm there and equipped with a decent video camera etc. The whole thing will help answer many historical questions and will no doubt be of major interest to historians, re-enactors and Medieval wargamers alike!

A once in a life time experience IMHO  8).

I recall years ago seeing a film clip from a camera mounted at eye level, facing an oncoming cavalry charge.  :o I hope they have a suitably well-protected camaera at "ground zero" recording the experience of being on the receiving end of that kind of volley!
