Figures for 18th Century Court Ball
« on: May 08, 2013, 05:33:50 PM »
In April I came upon a website entitled The Grand Duchy of Stollen.  It a fictional Grand Duchy in 28mm.  What struck me immediately was a set of figures 18th century aristocrats at a ball by Jackdaw Miniatures.  The figures come in two packs of about 9 figures each.  For me, it was love at first sight.  I ordered them from Old Glory UK, and they arrived Monday of this week; just a couple weeks after placing the order.  I'm in the US so that seemed to me to be great service.  The figures required some cleaning up of flashing but otherwise they are wonderful and go well with my Eureka 18th Century string quartet and Eureka's Voltaire and Frederick.  While the whole idea of an 18th ball is probably completely impractical I love the idea and have already painted up the Eureka 19th Century Victorian ball figures.  My taste in figures shows an obvious pattern.  If you like this sort of thing, I recommend that you take a look at the Jackdaw ball figures on The Grand Duchy of Stollen website.  Richard

abdul666lw, it will be awhile before I get the 18 century ball figures from Jackdaw completed because I am deep into work on my Victorians right now and hope to have that gallery ready by October.  But to give you a feel for what the Jackdaws look like, I did post the Eureka 18 century music group as part of my Pirate Gallery.  The Jackdaw and Eureka figures go well together both in terms of size and overall appearance.  You can see my Eureka musicians in pic 15 of my Pirate Gallery at www.warin15mm.com/Pirates.html
