I would like to know if those trees in the back ground are hand made. They seem to have a texture and shape I've not seen before. Both of these are just lovely pieces of work.

I recognize some as Warlord Games (Clubman Militia + Fire and Bromstone). The prisoners are mostly Redoubt Enterprises (Punishment set)

Wow. Admiral Benbow, that is superb. Lovely figures and a fantastic standard of painting.

I was caught out by the change in rules regarding VBCW, so no bonus pints for me... :-[

Wow! That's a very nice set-up, Admiral. The prisonders look great. Might have to pick them up some time.

Quite correct, Sir! The one not-Redoubt prisoner (kneeing) is from Warlord Games as well, from the Cardinal Richelieu set. As you can see, even enormous height differences of miniatures can be combined ...

The Warlord Games figures are a mixed bunch painting-wise: you can clearly see when the sculptor didn't like what he was doing or just couldn't be bothered. The feet of the butcher end as short stumps without any toes at all, they have to be painted in. Just intolerable to sell such stuff, and not good promotion for WG!

Yes, I made them myself and posted the step-by-step here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=15716.0

Hear Hear, Michael! The hit and miss quality of their stuff is one of the reasons I find it so hard to love Warlord...  :?
But your painting has certainly done the figures justice and then some.

I do like the servants, Rob. Interesting mix of figures you've used there.

Wow, Admiral! The stark dirty realism of those villagers elevates them beyond gaming pieces to works of art...! Love them...

I love the story these two entries tell!  The sailors vs. servants was a wonderful use of what might otherwise be an uninteresting figure!  With the Admiral's entry, you can really feel the anger somehow.   :o
