I didn't like how the previous photo showed the texture of the background cloth. So I updated the photo and thanks to Prof.Witchheimer updated the figure manufacturer as well.

Entry No 35 T'ang Medium Spear

Not only have I enjoyed this thread but also the painting of this miniature, it has been a great diversion from the bit of a rut I was in. Also quite a nostalgia trip, I can remember the first time I bought and painted this figure way back in my teens. Its an Essex mini, sculpted directly off the pages of the WRG book Armies and Enemies of Ancient China by John P Greer, which although we now know is riddled with inaccuracies is still one of my all time faves.

Meanwhile, here's my first Victrix plastic, and I have to say, yes they are a bit static (statuesque, almost), but they are really lovely figures to paint...
