If you have personal knowledge of this range please tell me:-

How good/bad are the figures?
How do they compare in size with Foundry (Darkest Africa) figures?

I thank you in advance  :)

I have some of the NNC figures and they are delightful. They are probably about the same size as Foundry.
The only issue with the British figures is the odd design on the sun helmet with raised ridges. It is most peculiar.
There is a wide variety of poses and overall pretty decent figures. Had I not built up my collection with Redoubt I would have gone for these. :)

Hi,

I have both Zulu and British Soldiers.
They are nicely sculpted. Especially the English have a great variety of poses.
The size is about the same of Foundry. They fit !

I own a single British Soldier (a sample from when BTD sent the shop where I worked an offer to stock their stuff) and a handful of their zulus (various with Rifles, Spears and Knobkerries).

The Brit was excellently sculpted and cast, and the helmet issue has been mentioned before. The Zulus are a little less well crafted, but well-cast, apart from some obvious flash (which was easily removed, though).

My recommendation: Good value for money.

Good choice. I enjoyed painting mine, and the price was right!

be aware that the BTD Zulu War figures are large - Redoubt size large.

They are nice (at least when I retailed them years ago) - sculpted by Nick Collier before he parted company with BTD.

Thanks.  (I was concerned they'd be small!)

Converting DA? When they've already got a Zulu Wars range... Weird.  ???

Given your own new figures for Empress, Paul - which look darn good from the couple Keith showed us - and this new outing from Foundry, plus I'm sure I saw an ad recently announcing someone else was about to launch a new Zulu range, one cannot help feel the market for Zulus and 1879 period Brits, is going to get rather crowded. Especially as BTD, Redoubt, and a number of others also already have extensive (and fairly recent) ranges out there...

I wonder what suddenly makes a given period explode like this?

Do I detect a Warhammer Historical Zulu Wars publication on the horizon?  ;)

(Just guessing mind, but if it turns out to be true, don't forget you heard it here first...  lol)

Foundry seem to be covering ranges they have made already by the Perry's withe new sculpts by lesser know sculptors. You just have to look at there new Nappy Imperial Guard.

In regards to all the new interest in the Zulu range I have no idea why everyone wants to own Zulu war ranges. I hope that I can do justice to the enthusiasm of all the guys and gals at Empress. I know that this will be the range to watch.

Know a Legends of the Old west supplement for the Zulu Wars could work.

Paul
