I would have ruined myself with the armored cars if not for the scale. I own several in 1/48, and they won't work at all with HLBS ones.

That's why I ordered two one for each side

Does anybody have any pictures of the HLBSC armour, other than Ignatieff, who seems to have most of them tucked away in his battle reports? I've got the Krupp gun on order but I'd like to see some more shots of the other vehicles before I wrestle with my wallet again.  I need more ammunition in my fight with it!

Seconded,  I would like to know how look GW11 FRENCH LAFFLY-WHITE particularly ? Is it the 1918 model or the 50 AM ?

But I would like to thank very much Ignatieff for making the re-releases possible, and all the people who give us the way to ordrer.

Good job, guys !

I live hard time at moment and it's a good way to change my mind (and waste money...)

I would assume it's the 1918 version:

No missus at home at the moment, so my little armoured company could occupy the area without opposition.

When the HLBS recast was announced, I couldn’t resist to get these lovely Schneider CA I’d fancy for a long time.

And in the move, I coundn't help myself to get two armoured cars too, first because the models are very rare on the market, and almost just for the pleasure to see them in flesh lead resin.

Charron armoured car :

Laffly-White armoured car (1918) :

It’s the first time I bought resin kits so I can’t compare, but my biggest surprise was that there was no guns include ! It should not be very difficult to scratchbuilt them though, but I’m curious to know if it is the usual way.

And I can’t complaint about the casting, cause I know it was a recast, but the Laffly-White particularly has a lot of “hollow” rivets.

All in all, I’m very pleased with them and I had excellent communication with Richard at HLBS.

Now, I have a lot of work on the workbench !

Meow,
Matt

Got my Krupp 42cm yesterday.  Excellent service, only took about a week to cross the pond. Nice hunk of metal, too! Now to tart it up as a display piece! The next problem is finding a crew for it.

The White-Laffley is the 1915/18 version MG and 37mm (?) armed. 'Red Ted' Robinson and I lobbied HLBS to make one and they made an absolute cracker.....

My three armoured cars and a tank arrived yesterday.  Made a mistake with the tank type though as it doesn't seem to have appeared until the Twenties (Vickers Mk II). Never mind, its early appearance in the Red Army just shows how good Soviet Intelligence was at getting details of the latest imperialist weaponry.

But I'd like to ask if anyone can tell me what these two flattish objects on the Putilov Garfield are.  They lie just in front of the rear wheels but I can't figure out if they are armour plates or some crude braking device.  I found a Russian site where they are called:

8 - кожух цепи силовой передачи,

The site has a very good annotated drawing of the vehicle, amongst others, and is here:

http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://mkmagazin.almanacwhf.ru/armor/putilov_garford_7.gif&imgrefurl=http://mkmagazin.almanacwhf.ru/armor/putilov_garford.htm&h=514&w=750&sz=75&hl=en&start=4&um=1&tbnid=prLh0gafglTCqM:&tbnh=97&tbnw=141&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dputilov%2Bgarford%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26channel%3Ds%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-GB:official%26sa%3DN

Alas its all in Russian and its almost 40 years since I studied Russian.  Help!

Well, the translator calls them 'casing chain power transmission' which I think translates to 'chain guard'.  It looks like the rear wheels were chain driven, much like the Mack trucks during WWI and the 1920's.  It's simply a cover to protect the chains from debris and probing fingers.
