Looks great....

I can see the gun being mounted on a junk but maybe a little more work on the support? Similar to a u-boat deck gun?

There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today...turn two points to port.

...not sure about the gun, though.
 :o

My thoughts exactly.
That gun carriage is way too small for that cannon.

Not sure about the gun.

If I may, I suggest taking a look at Aleko Lilius' book "I sailed with Chinese Pirates" from 1931. Don't worry, it has been republished and is available at the book store.
In the book Lilius states, that the pirates used smoothbore cannons ... smoothbore and muzzle-loaded cannons. Plus the odd assortment of breech-loading swivel guns.

I think a row of old school sailing ship 36-pounder long guns on port and starboard might look pretty awsome.

Just my thoughts though ...

Well I have slowly started adding age washed to the junk, though its kind of hard to see in this pic;

Thank you everyone for the advice concerning the big gun.
While the junk's washes dried, I started adding stuff to the gun;

I'll be adding a nice big heavy metal washer to base it on so it will not topple over.
It will not be permanently attached to the junk, as the junk also has to do double do as an innocent junk upon occasion.
That way it can be used on other ships or maybe for harbor defenses to.

Thank you all for your kind words and C&C.

The painting on the big junk is mostly done. I just have to touch up the door handles and hinges.

Oh yeah, and the sails.

Seeing all the boats together I had the notion, and the scraps lying around, to build some ubiquitous sampans to clutter up the harbor with.

Here is the good General with the painted maxims.

And good ole Tommygun Chong with the primed Big gun.

Also, in regards to the cannon, while historically I agree a mess of big ole black powder cannon like shown here are more appropriate;

AND

I intend to use my junks as pulpish terrain pieces to fight over and like it a bit over the top as it were.
After all, isn't pulp a bit more fun when the hero's are racing to stop Wu Fang, Lo Pan or Fu Manchu from using a stolen naval gun for their nefarious plan than some mere black powder cannon? ;)

Thank everyone for the kind words and C&C.

I think the deck gun looks great! Damn the torpedoes and all that.

I joined my gun with pirate swords, and sailed the seas of cyberspace.

I cannot disagree on that one. The stolen naval gun it is then. :)

I will need a gun like yours for my armoured train! :-*

Its a good idea to base it on a washer and don't fix it to the boat. Will do the same with mine if I can get one, so I can use it either for train or ship.

The big Junk is finally done.
She's plain and drab, sea worn but is she a pirate or just a Junk?

Lots of deck space for cargo or fighting on. What could ever be in the hold?

Here she is with the smaller junk and the sampans.

A plain but open galley.

Glamor shots to come.
Thank you everyone for your kind words and inspiration.
