Looking for good "brush on" matt vanish in Europe?
« on: June 03, 2013, 03:05:30 PM »
Can anybody recommend a good paint on matt varnish that is easily available by mail order in Europe (i.e. Vallejo, GW, Army Painter etc)?

Note - aerosols cannot be shipped by post, so hence "brush on" varnish.

I have several hundered figures where I have used a so-called "matt spray varnish" but there is still a residual shine in photographs.

I want to paint over the varnish to reduce this effect before photographing my collection.

Thanks

Mick

I asked the same question a while ago and was pointed in the direction of Winsor and Newton 'Galeria' Matt Varnish. It is really great stuff

Another vote for Winsor and Newton Galleria. I've used it for years, no complaints at all. If you're interested, it also airbrushes well.

I'm using Arts acrylic varnish from Lefranc Bourgeois (french product), But you can use any Arts product (Raphael, Pebeo, Liquitex). Arts paints and products are usually of great quality.

This- best stuff I used since Humbrol changed their Mattcoate formula.

I use the matt varnish from Tamiya, I usually mix it 50/50 with the clear varnish to have a tougher surface but it will look super matt.

I bought some of the Winsor and Newton 'Galeria' Matt Varnish when I was in England.
It works very well.
Thank-you all.
