3rd battalion, made up of old men and youngsters with a sprinkling of veterans at its core.

Very nice, that third battalion is definetly my favourite. Like the blue you have used more faded in look than a lot of the other blues I've seen used, very effective.

Thank you very much for the positive replies chaps, Drunken Samur the figures are all Perrys plastics apart from some of the command figures which are Perrys metals. The blue used was the Foundry three colour system.
The idea behind the third battalion is that they were short of supplies and therefore were issued with greatcoats and forage caps instead of jackets and shakos, the figures in shakos are meant to represent the nucleus of veterans the battalion was based around. You have an idea what the figures should look like in your minds eye and every now and again I come close to that vision in my painting and the third battalion was one of those times.
The plastics are an absolute joy to paint and required very little cleaning up, and when done they fit in with the metal figures a treat.
Napoleonics now are the only 28mm figures I play with on elements, just about everything else I do is on single figure bases for large skirmish games which I believe is the trend at the moment. Hope to have some more photos up soon.
