Darkest Africa Rules
« on: June 08, 2013, 11:26:36 PM »
Greetings all,

I am just beginning my exploration into Darkest Africa which is not commonly played in my environs and I am wondering about rules.  I am considering purchasing either In the Heart of Darkness or the Colonial Book for T+T.  Presently I do own T+T as well as the Spanish Civil War expansion and I have a 20th Anniversary Copy of TSATF with the TSIA rules with in it.

I was hoping I might get some idea reviews from this list regarding what rules people like and preferably why. Considering smallish actions probably in Central or Eastern Africa.

Cheers,
Ron

I'm not familiar with "In the Heart of Darkness." Do you mean Chris Peers' "In the Heart of Africa?" If so then I don't think you can go far wrong with that, though to be honest both that game and T&T provide excellent entertainment for Darkest Africa skirmishing, and I would find it hard to recommend one over the other. I have enjoyed them both immensely. The main advantage ITHOA would have would be the fact that it already has very comprehensive army lists worked out for Darkest Africa, whereas the lists in T&T are for more mainstream colonial theatres.

But if you already enjoy T&T, you could do what I do, and use the ITHOA army list book as a resource for building T&T armies.

In the Heart of Africa is exactly what I meant.  I keep confusing it with Conrad's book!

Thanks for your thoughts,
Ron
