I've finally assembled and painted the Grub Hut I picked up from Warbases over a year ago :o

Nice one, Tom. Everyone assumes Grubenhauser (can't do umlauts on here lol) sit very low, but there is evidence of a variety of sizes and shapes, and based on the archaeology being just the post holes, the length of the posts (and the height of the building!) is open to interpretation.

It actually looks very much like the simple row buildings I've seen in the reconstructions at Yorvik (so it must be right!). It'll make a lovely addition to your table.

Oh, one thing - I can definitely build mine cheaper than £3.50. But then I am the LAF branch of Bodgitt and Scarper Construction Ltd lol
Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe, hammer to fit, paint to match!

I'm sure I've built most of mine for less than that too Mitch.
But that takes no account of my labour - and my hourly rate is quite high.
This went together in about five minutes, compared to several lengthy sessions when building from foamcore.
:)

Good to know I can call it a grub hut without fear of (too much) contradiction!
 ;)

Tom,

I'm lucky I have two hourly rates. The one for everyone else, like yours, is high. The one I use for me, on the other hand is lower than a rattlesnake's belly in a wagon rut! lol
