That looks like an excellent basis for a campaign, mate.
In fact, I think it would work for just about any genre, not just the Dark Ages, with a little tweak here and there.

Ink, you could us Grýla as the arch villain. Throw in some Trolls, Skeklers and Jólaköttur ('cause HP liked his cats...) and you got some good down home Scandinavian Mythos potential.

It's all classic Yule stuff so Black Brođir is on the right track.
Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

I was just suggesting how northtroll could combine both starting options, that's all.
Jólaköttur - that's that people eating 'christmas' cat?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I confess: I have a bunch of vikings painted up, and it just seems natural for them to beat up a bunch of "sea trolls"! I live in the Puget Sound, and if there are fjords in the USA, it's here!

Whoops, confused my trolls, Ink for North.
My bad. Terrible manners on my part.

Black Brodir and the Jule feast thing got me all over enthused.  ;D

Jólaköttur - that's that people eating 'christmas' cat?
Grýla and Jólaköttur both enjoy a bit of cold-sliced naughty child on toast, yes.

Well I just acquired a huge bundle of strange aeons stuff from Ebay, so my project is well on its way. Add to that some purchases from Enfilade, and now I have a nice assortment of lurkers to paint up, as well as a few new dark ages figs. The coolest thing I picked up was a resin runestone cast up by Monday Knight Productions. This was done as a freebie for those who entered the SAGA tournament, but you could buy it for $1.50, so I did! I met the sculptor who is a very devout and practicing member of the Asatru tradition. He had one of the nicest translations of the Elder Edda I have ever skimmed. And he speaks and reads Old Norse to boot. The old gods are indeed smiling on my endeavor!

Time to build some Viking Era buildings thinks I.....

Not to necro, but I really like this idea. And not just because I have lots of Viking and Cthulhu models.

You could even use it to do a series of historically-linked scenarios, starting with the Vikings and then jumping to the present day where archaeologists are investigating a Viking site ... the outcome of the Viking scenarios could then influence the setup of the archaeology scenarios.
