What if we pilfer Alex's idea with the ancients and have a 100 unit thread... :o!  That way everyone can participate at there own rate...

Just a thought.

I  think I'd be up for this - I've got a FoW German Army that just has some primer on it.

That would be pretty cool... 100 units of 10 to 30 figures  :o
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

I would tentatively be up to join a whole army painting club.  However I am not sure it would be worthwhile to have it as a 'contest' rather than a fun participation event.  Realistically, very few people will be able to paint that many miniatures consistently for several months.

I'm probably in if it takes the lines of the original post and the 100 club but without any competition feel  :)

The question is, in the thread itself will there be a list in the first post of the 'armies' that people are doing and would people only be allowed to post if they meet the original list proposal (if that makes sense  ??? ).

cheers

Thank you Prof. for setting this up in it's own thread. Sounds like there is some interest. I see it a larger project theme. I have seen a few people doind some thing similar in individual threads. This gives us a chance to see some of these projects side by side. I find my army painting has a different flavor to it then the LPL. I paint for groups that look good together on the table top more than individuals up close.

Maybe July,August,Sept,Oct large units, 10 to 30 figures each month. November comand, equipment, vehicle, vessel plus. Show the figures bare or primed in the first 5 days of the month. The finished unit by the last day of the month. A full group shot the end of Nov. or the first part of Dec. Anybody else in? Can we set up a sticky header?
I think this is a good starting base. No real competition other than presenting your unit each month & staying in. Any topic accepted from Belgians Free state on Venus to Platoons in 60s era Vietnam to a Sage Viking army or even a Warhammer battle group. Let's hear a little input & get this started. I'm in.

BTW Prof. do you think this is the appropriate board or should it get moved to Workbench?

Maybe, we will see where it belongs, let's gather some feedback first.

I'm torn as to projects. I'd like to continue w/ the Trojan War, which would certainly qualify, units, commanders/heroes, chariots, and some big showy thing or other. BUT I'd also like to paint up all my Celtic Myth project, which I think would be more fun, tho technically not an army per se... Maybe the whole human Celt/Gael side of it?

I'm in for posting some units as I get them done as I have several " armies" on the go and I like the idea of seeing others.

I'm stuck in choice of what to do  ???

Several armies are at the point of being there ready to go and I'm assuming that changing half way through is bad form.

Ah well, I'll see what I fancy when it starts  :)

cheers

If the Painting Club eventually moves to Age of Big Fucking Battalions, then there is an obvious place to run this concept or something silimar to it.

I would not participate. I don't like painting big units.

Just a thought.

I'd prefer less rules for a change - painting an army is a large project, too many rules rule participants out....
