i only found shieldtransfers from lbms. but the problem is, all of us, which will not paint a lot of shields have to use this - perfect made - transfers. so i looked for a alternative on the web and found www.schieldschmie.de - a little shop which make decals and flags for 1/72, 15mm and 28mm historical and fantasy, like games workshop.

they had some decals for round shield for musketeer miniatures arthurians, but not for the, i will use, oval shields. so i sent maik from the shop a email, if he would do a customize job. and, what shall i say, he did! i made a little sketch.

the new decals, i have already got, will be in two variants. a clean on and one with fighting marks.

Lovely stuff, and a very useful link to the custom decal maker. It is possible to make your own, if you have the time and the inclination, but your route has to be easier!
Measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe, hammer to fit, paint to match!

After two nobles, it was time to start painting the core-units. the first two figures are for the elite unit.

much more pictures - the two guys with the shields from schildschmie.de - you can find on my blog.

here you can have a detail look to the two shields with the decals and the painting to finish the shields.

Oh those are REALLY good. Can I recruit them instead of the ones I'm painting myself? lol

Thanks for posting,

Raif,

You just made my day. Not only two extremely beautiful models but also the living proof that I'm not the only one that drills out the Musketeer hands- very carefuly- and uses the Gripping Beast cast spears.

Panic, Chaos and Disorder. My job here is done

Coming on a treat.
The problem is, every time I check your progress, I remind myself that I have about 50 of these Musketeer early Saxon and Romano-Brit figures still sitting in their bags - and about 150 other assorted figures ahead of them in the painting queue...  ::)
So viewing your lovely work is a bit of a painful pleasure...  :)

I've got two complete warbands I was really, really pleased with until people started posting pictures of this quality of Musketeer's products... :'(

Ditto.  These are excellent figures - again.  :(  I wish I had your ability with the paintbrush, it puts my painting into League 2 (or worse).  ;)
